FTTC

Fibre to the Curb

Fibre to a small pit at the property boundary, then a short copper run for the last few metres.

How it reaches your home

Fibre terminates in a distribution point unit in a pit outside the property, usually under the footpath, and the existing copper lead-in covers the remaining short distance to the wall socket.

What to expect

Because the copper run is short - typically metres rather than hundreds of metres - it performs better than Fibre to the Node, though it is still limited to the 100 Mbps tiers.

Speeds you can order on FTTC

These are the tiers Ripple sells on FTTC, from $60.90/month. Each tier page shows the price, the typical busy-period speeds and how it compares with the major providers.

You may be able to upgrade to full fibre for free

NBN is progressively replacing FTTC connections with Fibre to the Premises at no installation cost on eligible addresses. That lifts the ceiling from the 100 Mbps tiers to the full fibre range.
